Welcome

  • Welcome to Two Babes and a Brain. No, you didn’t read it wrong. We are called Two Babes and a Brain. Yes TWO WOMEN ONE BRAIN. And yes, before you ask, we are ready to take all the comments and jokes that come with that. Allow us to explain. Children fry your brain cells. They suck the intelligence right out of you. They cause you to stare blankly at objects wondering how to use them to do bodily harm—usually you imagine doing bodily harm to yourself because if you do bodily harm to your children, DCYF will have to get involved and that just takes up time you don’t have because---you have children. The two women who run this blog have six children between them. Therefore, they are short on brain power. After some serious mathematical calculations they have come to the conclusion that together they have a total of ONE brain. They feel lucky to have this. Now, on to the Babe issue. To be a Babe, you don’t have to look like Carmen Electra or Katherine Zata Jones. It’s a state of mind. It’s being comfortable in your own skin. A Babe has her own opinions about issues, whether you are talking about politics, sports, education or even the War on Terror. Chris and Lisa definitely have their opinions about almost everything. That’s one reason they created Two Babes and a Brain. And when their opinions are on opposite sides, look out. Katy, bar the door and batten down the hatches cause sh#t’s gonna hit the fan. Chris and Lisa extend an invitation to you to post your comments, questions and yes, even dissenting opinions. But be warned, they love nothing better than a good juicy debate.

Virginia Tech is a National Tragedy and our nation mourns for the dead. How would feel if following the News Stories happened in
America instead of Iraq? Day after Day another National Tragedy occurs. Read these New Stories as though these stories are happening in your Home Country.

April 16, 2007
Nationwide, at least 51 people were killed or found dead, and the U.S. military reported two soldiers slain in Baghdad.

April 15, 2007
BAGHDAD -- Six bombs exploded in predominantly Shiite Muslim sections of the Iraqi capital yesterday, killing at least 45 people in a renewal of sectarian carnage that set back the U.S. push to pacify Baghdad

Iraq has only one tenth the population of US. So twenty killed in a bombing attack in Baghdad is same as 200 dying in NYC in an attack.

Yet Another Katrina Cluster#^*k

Geee.... $1 Billion.... yes... $1 Billion in fraudulent claims paid in relief for Katrina victims.

Imagine that.

This is what happens when pressure is placed on agencies to simply dole out money without proper due diligence.  It just goes to show you...if you publicly whine long and loud enough, you'll cost the rest of us over a cool Billion.

Katrina Again

This is priceless...they can't even figure out who is responsible for a drill...so instead of someone getting the job done, cancel the drill. Let's see how that works in a real emergency...oh wait...we have seen that...

For My Progressive Friends...

Yesterday, I slapped the "progressives" around. Today I am tackling something about another group that really cheeses me off. (I'm trying to give up cursing because my middle kid loves the word ass--which he learned from me--and since I told him he can't say it, he keeps saying, "I won't say ass, Mom. I won't say ass.")

I assume that we all agree that you judge a party or group of politicians or an administration by what their priorities are and how they go about achieving them. The agenda they set and how hard they work to make it happen. Lip service to an idea without specifics on how to make it happen equals empty rhetoric.( or so I learned from the conservatives) I also assume that we, the Amercian people, have had more than enough empty rhetoric.

So today, I am slapping around the political party with the pre-9/11 mindset. Yup. Today it is the Republicans turn.

What are they thinking?

I want to stop sending money to New Orleans. I want the federal government to stop now. Why?

Because the people of New Orleans are going to re-elect Nagin.

We already know that throwing money at a problem doesn't cure stupidity.

I know race played a part in this--every ethnic group and race is guilty of the, "he may be an asshole, but he's our asshole" version of politics...I just don't want to fund it.

A Plan...

There are many of you here who claim that democrats don't have plans. Common refrains:

We know what the Democrats are against but what are they for?

Most recently we were treated to:

"Hindsight is not wisdom. Second guessing is not a plan." (Still an excellent line...speech writer awesome...)

Well, I'm a Democrat and I have a plan--almost. OK... I have the beginnings of a plan.

Remember the Challenger

I am from NH. Christa McCaullif was a teacher in a town 15 minutes away from where I lived. When the Challenger blew up my theater teacher fell to her knees, crossed herself and started to sob. The next day there were grief counselors all over my school to help us cope.

All I can say is that kids are resilient and the way we coped was to come up with some pretty funny jokes, but Lisa won't let me tell them. She says I am sick and that my jokes are disrespectful. I agree. But they are wicked funny and make me giggle...

Oh well, if you have any...jokes...please share them in the comment section.

Chris

OOh...look...I don't have to post them...I can just link to them

JUST A NOTE FROM LISA:  What is disgusting about this whole thing is that Chris was a freshman in highschool when this happened while I was at home pregnant with my second child.  AARRGGHH...

Governor Had to be Dressed Down...

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco  In e-mails published by the Louisiana Governor's office, apparently, some of Democrat Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco's PR folks were more concerned that the Governor was going to be over dressed for the hurricane aftermath instead of being concerned with the folks who were displaced by the tradegy of Katrina.  Everyone has their priorities.

Can't blame Nagin and Blanco for Mississippi, can you?

I remember all of the talk, here at TwoBabes, about how it was all the local officials fault. The Mayor of New Orleans was an ass and the Governor of LA was incompetent. All of that is oh so true. But what is also true, is that FEMA blew goats and all of the talk saying that they didn't have the authority to go in and do their job was spin--plain and simple.

When is a lie, a lie?

Dick Cheney and President Bush are out there swinging--saying that to question the intelligence that led us into the War in Iraq is irresponsible. Is it sticking? I don't know. That is a topic for another day. Today, we delve into the philosophical. When is a lie a lie? Take a look at these whoppers and you tell me...
