Welcome

  • Welcome to Two Babes and a Brain. No, you didn’t read it wrong. We are called Two Babes and a Brain. Yes TWO WOMEN ONE BRAIN. And yes, before you ask, we are ready to take all the comments and jokes that come with that. Allow us to explain. Children fry your brain cells. They suck the intelligence right out of you. They cause you to stare blankly at objects wondering how to use them to do bodily harm—usually you imagine doing bodily harm to yourself because if you do bodily harm to your children, DCYF will have to get involved and that just takes up time you don’t have because---you have children. The two women who run this blog have six children between them. Therefore, they are short on brain power. After some serious mathematical calculations they have come to the conclusion that together they have a total of ONE brain. They feel lucky to have this. Now, on to the Babe issue. To be a Babe, you don’t have to look like Carmen Electra or Katherine Zata Jones. It’s a state of mind. It’s being comfortable in your own skin. A Babe has her own opinions about issues, whether you are talking about politics, sports, education or even the War on Terror. Chris and Lisa definitely have their opinions about almost everything. That’s one reason they created Two Babes and a Brain. And when their opinions are on opposite sides, look out. Katy, bar the door and batten down the hatches cause sh#t’s gonna hit the fan. Chris and Lisa extend an invitation to you to post your comments, questions and yes, even dissenting opinions. But be warned, they love nothing better than a good juicy debate.

Walk together in friendship and love.

Update

I would like to Thank LJ  for alerting me to that while the Pics are true, the story to these Pics are be false.  I found this Story which seems to be more of the Truth. Even the New Story has meaning to me. Make what you like of the story, but I believe in the Good of All who visit 2Bs.

The photos are genuine, but there's more to this story than meets the eye. To begin with, the snapshots were taken at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand (near Bangkok), not some nameless zoo in California. Moreover, it would appear that the sad tale of the tigress falling into a deep depression after losing a litter of cubs was fabricated, as was the claim that the piglets were substituted for the deceased cubs by zookeepers in order to console the "mourning mother." As it happens, this sort of intermingling of species is not at all unusual at the Sriracha Tiger Zoo, where "creating successful relationships with animals of different species" is something of a guiding principle. The facility, more accurately described as part zoo and part circus, boasts offbeat attractions like basketball-playing elephants, "lady crocodile wrestlers," and a petting zoo where customers can bottle-feed baby tigers with their own bare hands. Visitors have reported seeing tigers, pigs, and dogs all housed together within the same enclosure, with sows nursing tiger cubs and tigresses nursing piglets "adorned in tiger-print costumes." The costumes are strictly for show, by the way. The mother tiger pictured above, who has been photographed on other occasions suckling piglets au naturel, was herself nursed by a pig in infancy and apparently regards the other species as family, not prey.

I found this at My Left Wing. Maybe it will have some meaning for you as it did for me. - HC

Picture of the Day® #17 Toni The Tiger

This is a story of a tiger who was going to become a mama, she was very happy to be pregnant and she did a miraculous thing, she gave birth to triplets, very unusual in the world of tigers.  The delivery, however, had complications, they were premature and much to everyone's dismay, the triplets died.

The mama tiger went into a serious depression, she was alright physically but her soul took a mighty blow, it was feared she might even die.

Five Minute Thoughts...

Before I give my daughter a bath and get her ready for school, take BOTH boys to the Doctor for the latest in mystery-I-hate-school-ailments, and try to expell the dead thing that stinks from my refrigerator, I thought I would post this thought that is going through my head...like Five Minute Mysteries--but without the correct grammer or a "right" ending.

I take some crap from my "progressive" friends for slapping the Democrats harder than I slap the Republicans. While I don't think that is true, I want to explain why I slap them at all. I thought I had several times, but apparently not, since they keep asking me, "WHY!?"

Because anger on the far left is out of control. I do not mean that the American people should not be angry...we should. There is a lot of bad stuff going on and we need to address that stuff, but the anger or the way the anger is expressed is not productive.

I am not a prude and I think you all know that I have the mouth of a long shoreman...but sometimes, when I read stuff at the Daily Kos or other "progressive" sites I blush. Not only do I blush, but I spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out if the things they suggest neo-cons do to their mothers is even physically possible. Plus, I'm old...and apparently all the names for private body parts have changed and I'm not always sure who is putting what where. By the time I get to the end of the thread, I don't even remember what the topic of discussion was.

Now, I know that the wacky right is just as frothing at the mouth. I love it whenI am told I am going to hell, or God is sending a hurricane my way...my favorite is when I am told that my kid's having autism is my fault...that makes my day. I don't even know how to argue with those people and I don't want to.

The progressive movement has some big ideas. I think big ideas are great. I think they warrant discussion. I think that discussion leads to learning and learning can only lead to figuring out how to make big ideas part of the fabric of our society. There are good reasons for a sense of community and an obligation to the young and the old and a higher calling to something other than ourselves...these are Democratic principles and only Democrats can bring them center stage and make them part of how we live our lives. (Republicans are doing the rugged-individualist thing.)

What we can't do is bring these ideas center stage without realizing mistakes of the past--we have some 40 years of somewhat failed social programs. We nned to recognize those mistakes and figure out how not to make them again. We need to acknowledge that there are limits to America's largess and limits to what we can do all at once. We need to recognize that the other side has some valid complaints and good ideas and that not every issue is black and white.

The "progressive" movements refusal to do these things makes them seem like people who can't be worked with. The screaming and lack of exchange of ideas without referring to the questioners latent homosexuality make it seem like someone let the inmates out of the asylum. It isn't helpful.

Anger is helpful when used appropriately. When used sparingly. When used in complete sentences that could be aired on TV at 4:00pm. No one is listening to the Big Ideas...mostly because a lot of it sounds like muttering to the people living in your heads. If the big ideas are worth advancing as agenda items, you have to explain them and sell them to people who don't have time to play with their computer all day long...people who don't know what all these computer letter words IMHO mean...so...

I slap the progressives around because I like SOME of their ideas and want them brought to the table for discussion and don't really want to feel afraid that the people presenting them have gone off their meds...

Chris

PS I reserve the right to rethink anything I put up here under the Five Minute Thoughts Category after I have more than five minutes to think about it...:o)
