First of all....meet the new man in my life....
This is Sampson. He is a 4 year old (although I think he is more like 2) pure breed chocolate lab. Sampson was scheduled to be killed tomorrow. I couldn't allow that to happen...so here he is... lounging in the lap of luxury.
Here comes the soapbox part....
IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE A DOG.....DONT GET ONE....until you have learned what it is to be committed to an animal.
Why was Sampson turned into the animal shelter? He is a pure breed beautiful chocolate lab. People paid me lots of money to buy my puppies and here was Sampson...sitting in a cement kennel, scheduled to be killed tomorrow....how crazy is that?
I have a friend who just adopted a chocolate lab/pit bull mix. She had been thrown out of a car window on the side of the road when she was just 3 weeks old along with 5 brothers and sisters. She was the only survivor. How sick is that?
Look folks....yes, puppies are so cute...and they are so small when you first get them, aren't they? But, hey....guess what....they grow up. They get big and they need love and attention and discipline..and training..lots of discipline and training. They don't automatically know that they should be peeing outside....they have to be taught...They don't understand that they can chew your old pair of sneakers but not your $200 New Balance running shoes....they cannot differentiate between the two...all they see is a shoe...and they don't automatically understand that trash is supposed to be put INTO the trash can, not taken out.
So if you are not ready to deal with those issues....DON'T GET A DOG.
Stepping down from the soapbox now....

The puppies have all gone to wonderful homes... and as ya'll know, my daughter talked me into letting her have one. So I thought I'd just share a few pics of this little Reagan "mini me"... Yes, she is her mother's daughter....Alpha.... intelligent beyond belief... and spoiled rotten.
Enjoy...
The "Princess"
I sat in the comfort of my living room yesterday and watched an HBO Documentary produced by Last Chance for Animals. All of my dogs were also comfortably napping on the sofa next to me. What I saw in this documentary left me shocked... horrified...and broken down in tears.
WARNING: When you click on the "continue to read..." there will be pictures that I feel you need to see.
OK...all the puppis are gone... They are all off to well deserving families. But there is one that will be coming back to "Nana's" house for visits...(OK, I'm waaayyy to young to be a Nana). I gave my daughter a puppy... but not because she chose the puppy...the puppy chose her. This puppy attached herself to Lauren the very first time Lauren ever picked her up. So what could I do? It was meant to be.
Here she is...her name is Azden..she is in Lauren's arms and is wearing the collar that her Nana (me) bought her.
Yeah...I know... she's a cutie, isn't she?

OK Judy... here are just a few pics of Jack getting introduced to the leather sofa. Yes..all the puppies are brought in individually and are introduced to playing and sleeping in the house. This was Jack's turn.
The Prince on his pillow
The pups are six weeks now and have been moved outside to the kennel.... now before you get all uppedity and tell me it's too cold...they are "hunting dogs". They are bred to run through fields and jump in the water to retrieve ducks and geese in the cold weather. They have a nice cozy house and a cushy warm sheepskin bed to snuggle up in...They will be just fine. Its not like I live in Maine, you know.
Here are this weeks pics...
The babies are 5 weeks today. They now anxiously await mama's visit for a little after breakfast snack.
..of course, this one had to have front page coverage too...
and of course, keep going if you are interested...
